Hornsby was born on November 23, 1954 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Hornsby grew up enjoying all kinds of music, and ultimately graduated from the University of Miami in 1977. After spending time as a session musician, he decided to form a band, and Bruce Hornsby and the Range was born. The band enjoyed a high level of success, releasing three albums, two of which climbed into the Top 5 on the charts. In 1993, he went solo, and has released six albums, five of which have charted.
