NHL tickets to see the Avalanche in the playoffs were at their height of popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Avalanche won their fist Stanley Cup in Colorado their first year after moving from Quebec. After two more Conference Finals appearances in three years, the Avalanche won another NHL Championship in 2001.
In 2006 the Avalanche were swept out of the Western Conference Semifinals by the Ducks after finishing 2 nd in the Northwest Division. Their dismissal from the playoffs came too quickly for most Avalanche fans, making the chance to see Colorado take revenge on their tormentors in this year's postseason (and the next few to come) something that no Denver hockey fan could pass up.
