Maroon 5 was formed in 1999 when members of the band Kara's Flowers added one more member. With most of them friends from junior high school, the band came together really well and played different venues around New York and L.A. which led to them getting noticed. In 2002, Maroon 5's debut album Songs about Jane was released but it wasn't until January of 2004 that the album went Platinum with singles like "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved."
